Born in Yamaguchi Prefecture. Graduated from Tajimi Technical High School in Gifu Prefecture, majoring in pottery. Studied at the Hitomaru Hagi ware kiln, the Saikeiji kiln, the Agano ware kiln, and under Omiyaji Michiko of Mashiko. Later established the Hagi Shozan Kiln in Toyoura-gun, Yamaguchi Prefecture, and became independent. He was selected for the Western Craft Exhibition. Mainly works with Hagi ware, including marbled ware, iron glaze, and tenmoku.
