Born in Niigata Prefecture. Graduated from Tokyo National University of Fine Arts and Music with a major in ceramics. In 1976, he established his own kiln in Shizuoka Prefecture. He was awarded the Grand Prize at the JCDA Craft Exhibition at Ginza Matsuya, the Japan Ceramic Art Exhibition, and other prizes. He has had solo exhibitions at Mejiro Sanshundo, Yokohama Takashimaya Department Store and others. Works mainly with iron-oxide glaze and gold and silver painting.
