His real name is Yukinobu, and he was born in Kyoto. He was attracted to ancient Bizen pottery and joined the Bizen Ceramic Center in 1976. In 1978, he built a studio and Semi-ground type cellar kiln on his own, and two years later, he did first fire work at the kiln and became independent.
