Born in Joetsu City, Niigata Prefecture. Studied under Saito Saburo in 1948. Studied under Doi Kenroku, Nakajima Kiyoshi, Uchida Kunio in Kyoto and Hattori Shoju Kiln in Yamashina from 1952. In 1966, he moved to Australia to teach at an art and pottery institute. He won the gold medal at the Faenza International Exhibition. Served as a juror for the Australian and New Zealand International Exhibitions. Honorary member of the Australian Ceramic Society. Returned to his hometown in 1980. Works mainly with white porcelain, ash glaze and feldspar glaze.
