Born in Kyoto, Japan. Graduated from Kyoto City Art School. Graduated from Kyoto College of Painting (now Kyoto University of Arts). Trained at the National Ceramic Research Institute. Studied under Tosai the first In 1941, assumed the name of Tosai the second. Designated as an artist for the preservation of art in 1945. Won a gold medal at the Italian Triennale, among others. Invited to participate in the Kyoto Prefectural Exhibition. Served as chairman and committee member of the Ceramics Division of the Kyoto Prefecture Arts and Crafts Study Group. Participated in the 15th and 20th anniversary exhibitions of the Kyoto Traditional Artists Association. Director of Kyoto Traditional Ceramics Association. His main works are tea ceremony utensils and Kyoto-style tableware, mainly in the Ninsei and Kenzan styles and blue and white ceramics.
