Born in Tokyo. Studied in the Mejirodai Painting Institute and participated in the Fuzankai collective with Kishida Ryusei and others. Traveled to France and studied under Matisse. After the war, he pursued painting through Kutani ware. Founding committee member of the Issuikai collective.
