Born in Yamaguchi City. Graduated from Yamaguchi University. Studied under his father Yamato Shoichi, who has been in the family business of Hagi ware for generations. Has won prizes at the Western Craft Exhibition, the Kyushu-Yamaguchi Exhibition, and others. He has had solo exhibitions at Osaka Kintetsu Department Store and Matsue Museum.
