Became independent in 1963. Started an ascending kiln in Mihama, Chita in 1976. Won the Asahi Ceramic Exhibition Governor’s Award and a Board Member of Operations for this exhibition. Won the Japan New Craft Grand Prize and a Board Member of Selection for this exhibition. Won the Vallauris International Exhibition Grand Prize. Served as the Director of the Japan Craft Society. Works focus on natural glaze and Same-yu glaze.
