1st generation Togetsuan Rakuo restored the old kiln for Kozan ware, which was founded in the Koka period in the edo era, in the early Showa era. Succeeded the restored Kozan ware and assumed the name of the 4th generation in 1965. Studied tea bowls under Sato Enju and studied under Tsuji Shinroku of Kyoto. Moved the kiln to Mashiko in 1967 and named it the Kozan kiln. Appointed as the Director of the Yokkaichi Maiko Ceramic Society in 1979. Selected for numerous public exhibitions and won awards. Pen-name is Miyata Hozan.
