From Shizuoka Prefecture. Graduated from the Faculty of Sociology at Rikkyo University in 1964. Later sought to make ceramics and studied under Aoki Shokichi of Hachijo Ceramic Studio in 1978. Studied under Takeshita Mitsuhiro of Minobu kiln in 1981. Became independent in Fujikawa, Ihara in 1983.
