Second son of Asahiyama Kutani, former head of the Kutani kiln. Graduated from Ishikawa Prefecture Crafts High School and later from the Kyoto Institute of Technology. Studied under Onishi Masataro. Recipient of Prefectural Traditional Crafts Exhibition Excellence Award, other honors. Member of Issuikai and the Japan Kogei Association. Primarily focused on quail’s crest kneading, other techniques.
