With Shoami I as his father, he was involved in the family pottery business since graduating college. Since then, he partook in a number of apprenticeships and created works under the name Takano Shinjiro. In 1980, together with Shoami I, he held a 50th anniversary exhibition of the kiln.
Afterwards, he inherited the name Shoami II in 1993 and since then exhibited his works mainly at solo exhibitions.
