After joining the Asahi Newspaper in Osaka, he studied under Saito Mokichi and was active as an Araragi-style poet. He was also committed to research on Matsuo Basho, as well as research into and revival of local ancient Iga ware, and has received certification as protecting intangible cultural assets in Mie Prefecture. He also left behind many of his own pottery works.
