From Yamaguchi Prefecture. Graduated from the Department of Production Engineering at Nihon University. Decided to pursue pottery in 1974 and trained at Daishukugama Kiln. Became a student of Hirosaki Hiroya in 1976. Set up a kiln independently in Mashiko, Tochigi Prefecture in 1977. Focuses on straw ash glaze, ash glaze, and black glaze.
