Born in Kyoto. Graduated from the sculpture department of Kyoto Art University. Studied under Tsuji Shindo, Horiuchi Masakazu and Yagi Kazuo. Since becoming a member of Sodeisha in 1964 (and remaining a member until its dissolution in 1998), he has been one of the leading figures in contemporary ceramic art. Awarded the Mayor’s Prize at the Kyoten Exhibition and the Minister of Education’s Prize at the Japan Ceramic Art Exhibition. The Minister of Education’s Prize at the Japan Ceramic Art Exhibition, etc. Exhibition at Akiyama Gallery in Tokyo, Isetan in Shinjuku, and Yodo Gallery in Osaka, France. Assistant professor at Kyoto Art Junior College. Associate professor at Kyoto Art Junior College Mainly white and black porcelain.
