Born in Kishiwada, Osaka. After his father died, he moved to his mother’s hometown, Hagi. After graduating from Hagi High School, he studied under Yoshika Taibi. In 1969, the Oya kiln was established in this location and since 1976, Hagi ware was fired in a snake kiln (one of the primitive climbing kilns made using a slope, but the rooms in the kiln are not separated like a climbing kiln). Held solo exhibitions at Kokura Izutsuya, Japan Monopoly Corporation Aoi Kaikan and others.
